Risograph Book: "The Sacred Womb - Opening"

“The Sacred Womb - opening,” explores the universal experience of menstruation and celebrates the resilience of those who menstruate. This risograph book, created with digital collage and imagery manipulation, embodies the cyclical nature of menstruation and its often unseen connections.

Using risograph printing, I aimed to present a reproducible format that remains accessible while showcasing the unique textures and vivid colors of the medium. I find a fascinating link between the reproductive processes of the womb and the reproducibility of risograph printing, allowing for an exploration of creation and nurturing.

The use of crimson red ink mimics blood and seeks to reclaim a color often associated with menstruation, redefining it as a symbol of empowerment. “The Sacred Womb - opening” invites reflection and conversation around menstruation, a topic often surrounded by silence and stigma.
